What PawnitoChess saves
As a guest, nothing is sent to us. To make the site work, your browser keeps a few things on this device only: your settings, your opening progress and review dates, your daily plan and streak, your puzzle level and daily puzzle history, your minigame best scores, and the last Chess.com / Lichess username you used. You can erase them any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.
If you create an account, we also save:
- your email address and the name you choose (or your Google account name if you sign in with Google)
- the games you analyze (moves, the players' usernames and ratings as they appear in the game, the accuracy, move counts and engine evaluations we calculated so the review opens instantly, and the game link)
- your daily streak, your best minigame scores, the free courses you picked and your lesson progress
- whether your account has VIP (we set this ourselves)
To open your reviews faster, this browser also keeps a copy of them. It stays after you log out, so on a shared computer clear this site's data when you are done.
If you write to us with the Contact form, we save your message with the name, email and topic you typed (and your account id if you're logged in), so we can read it and answer. Only we can read it.
Your password is handled by Google Firebase Authentication. PawnitoChess never sees or stores it.
Cookies and tracking
PawnitoChess has no ads, no analytics and no tracking cookies. The only things kept in your browser are the ones listed above, which the site needs to work, and the sign-in data Firebase uses to keep you logged in.
What we use it for
Only to show you your own games and reviews when you come back. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and other users can't see your saved games.
The one public thing: when you play a minigame while logged in, your name and your best score appear on that game's leaderboard, which anyone can see.
Analysis runs on your device
The chess engine (Stockfish) runs inside your browser. Your games are not sent to us to be analyzed.
Services we use
- Google Firebase stores accounts and saved games (servers in Europe).
- Netlify hosts the website.
- Paddle.com processes VIP payments as our reseller. We receive your email and order details, never your card number.
- Google (gstatic.com) delivers part of the site's drawing engine and some fonts, so your browser connects to Google when the page loads.
- If you log in with Google, Google handles that sign-in.
- When you load your games from Chess.com or Lichess, your browser asks their public websites for your recent games, using the username you type.
- Like every website, these services see your IP address when your browser connects to them.
Your choices
You can delete any saved review from My Games. You can delete your whole account from Settings. This erases your account, your games, your reviews, your streak and your leaderboard entries, and can't be undone.
Messages you sent with the Contact form are not deleted with your account: write to us and we will delete them. You can also write to us to get a copy of your data, or to have it corrected or deleted.
Security
The site only works over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and our database rules let each player read and change only their own saved data.
Children
PawnitoChess is not meant for children under 13 to create accounts. If you believe a child created one, write to us and we will delete it.
Questions
Write to support@pawnitochess.me about anything on this page or to ask what data we have about you. If this policy changes, the date at the top changes too.
